Colin Morgan was born on January 1, 1986 in Armagh, Northern Ireland. In 1997 Colin began studies at Integrated Dungannon college and in his third year he won the Denis Rooney Associates Cup rewarding the best student of the year. In 2004, he joined the Belfast Institute of Further and Higher Education where he obtained his National Diploma in Performing Arts (Diploma of Dramatic Art). Then he joined the prestigious Royal Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow, Scotland where he graduated in 2007. In November 2010, the Belfast Metropolitan College honoured Colin with an Award of Distinction for his contribution to the Arts.

His biggest international fame came with the BBC series Merlin (2008-2012) where he played the lead protagonist Merlin.
